Smart Energy Capture
Industrial waste gases
Carbon monoxide gas is produced in high volumes by the steel industry. Industrial waste gases contain elevated concentrations of carbon monoxide gas and little or no hydrogen. A technology to harness this gas resource for fuel manufacture not only reduces the carbon footprint of industrial processes, but also displaces oil derived transport fuels.
Total energy capture from ANY resource
Gasification is a process in which the principal chemical components, carbon and hydrogen, that make up biomass are converted to carbon monoxide and hydrogen gas.
The clear advantage of this approach to capturing the energy in biomass is that through gasification over 90% of the energy is made available for fermentation whereas more conventional technologies (for instance cellulose fermentation), may only access the carbohydrate portion of the biomass.
LanzaTech can use ANY biomass resource (municipal waste, organic industrial waste (tyres), waste wood). It is feedstock agnostic.
"Waste equals food, whether food for the earth, or for a closed industrial cycle."
W. McDonough
